The Monday Musing – Everything you need to know about Titanfall: Assault

Well, Monday has flobbled into view, weary from its exertions at the weekend, dreaming of a Tuesday that it knows will never come. Poor Monday, so despised by all and sundry, all it wants to do is live a little, but it never can.

What it can do is provide the perfect platform for the Monday Musing. After all, both of the words start with M. It’s like it was meant to be, pre-ordained in the glimmering ether. Or some such nonsense.

This week I’m going to have a muse about Titanfall: Assault. It’s a card-battler in the Clash Royale mould, and it’s set to hit the App Store later this week. Here’s everything you need to know about what the game has to offer.

What is it?

It’s a real time strategy game with a bit of MOBA thrown in there for good measure. You’re in charge of your troops, sending them in to battle. The scraps last four minutes, and a minute in you’ll be able to drop a massive Titan into the fray.

The aim is capturing bases. So you need to make sure you’re defending as well as attacking. Throw your troops too far ahead and you’ll find yourself screwed if your foe begins a concentrated attack.

 

How does it capture the ethos of the console game?

Well, with the Titans mainly. Obviously this isn’t an FPS with wall running. But it lifts a decent chunk of ideas from the main Titanfall series and wraps it all up in a more mobile-friendly package.
