The best games on sale for iPhone and iPad right now – April 26th

Oh look it’s Wednesday. Wednesday is the day when we round up the best games on sale on the App Store right now. So that is exactly what we’re going to do. And we’re going to do it with a smile on our faces and a song in our hearts.

There are some real crackers in the list this week, so you should probably buy all of them to further grease the wheels of the capitalist machine. I mean, them wheels aren’t going to grease themselves now, are they?

As usual you can click on the emboldened name of the games below to download them from the App Store. I think that covers everything you need to know. Now go forth and consume content. It’ll be great.

Tsuro – £2.99 / $ 2.99

A digital version of an intriguing boardgame. It’s all about dragons. But there isn’t any gold hoarding here. Instead you’re just trying not to fly off the board. You build your dragon’s path as you play, and whoever has the last dragon standing wins.

A gorgeous looking shooter with a supreme retro aesthetic. It’s super tough, but it’s also super rewarding. Fly around a collapsing computer syst…

The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week – April 21st

Friday Friday, gotta create content on Friday. Everybody’s sat around saying “Harry where is the content please?” Well shut your mouths, the content is here. And it’s the usual content, as you might be expecting.

Fridays we like to take a look at the five best games that have come out on the App Store this week. So that’s what I’m going to do. I love tradition. Love it so much.

As usual you can click on the emboldened name of a game to download it. You know the drill. We all know the drill. It’s a big drill. Sigh. Here goes.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Telltale’s latest. This one follows everyone’s favourite space heroes on a new adventure. As we’ve come to expect from Telltale the first episode isn’t fantastic, but it sets things up nicely for what’s to come. One to jump in on early.

CATS

A game about building tanks for cats to drive. It’s not quite as good as that sounds unfortunately, but it is pretty entertaining. And you can give a cat a chainsaw to play with, which is hilarious and incredibly dangerous.

The best games on sale for iPhone and iPad right now – April 19th

Well, it’s Wednesday again. How did that happen? Did someone fast forward the weekend? Was it you? If it was I’m very disappointed in you. Try slowing it down next time, yeah? I don’t know, some people.

Anyway Wednesday is when we round up the best games that are currently on sale on the App Store. So I’ve just gone right ahead and done that for you. Even though you might have fast forwarded the weekend. It’s just how I rule.

There are some classics in the mix this week, but you’re going to want to be quick if you’re going to download any of them – these sales won’t last forever. As always, click on the emboldened name of a game in the list below to grab it. Let’s do this.

Out There – 99p / 99c

A big and wonderful space exploration game. Part gamebook, part roguelike, all loneliness and death. This is the Omega edition of the game as well, so it’s chock full of interesting new content. And for less than the price of a thing that costs a pound you can’t really go wrong.

Hitman GO – £1.99 / $ 1.99

The game that launched the GO range from Square Enix. It might not have the chops of the g…

The best games on sale for iPhone and iPad right now – April 12th

Oh look it’s Wednesday. That’s nice. Er, I can’t think of anything cynical or funny to say right now, so I’m just going to fill this first paragraph with explanations to that effect. Sound good to you? Cool.

Well Wednesday is when we look at the best games on sale on the App Store at the moment. And so I’ve done that. I’ve put them in a list. You can read the list down there.

As usual click on the name of a game to go and buy or download it. This ends the preamble for the list. I hope you enjoy the rest of the content. All the best.

Hyperburner – Free

Hyperburner is free!?! Oh cool. But what is it? Well it’s a super fast sci-fi racer that looks absolutely gorgeous. Perhaps more importantly it also controls fantastically. And let’s be honest, the controls are the most important things in a game. No, really, they are. Thinking an auto-running Wipeout and you’re getting there.

Kathy Rain – £2.99 / $ 2.99

A clever and engaging point and click adventure with a wonderful main character. It’s interesting, it’s smart, and it looks at things from an angle that a lot of games wou…

The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week – April 17th

Oh look, it’s the end of the week. How on earth did that happen? I have literally no idea. Well, I have some inkling, but it’s not enough to base a hypothesis on just yet.

What was I talking about? Oh yeah, Friday. Every Friday here at AppSpy we like to break down for you the five best games that came out on the App Store this week. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do right now.

As per usual, click on the emboldened name of a game below and you’ll be taken to the App Store where you can download it. Won’t that be exciting for you, you little scamps.

Cell 13 – £2.99 / $ 2.99

A clever puzzling platformer that plays around with portals. And holes. And switches. And a bunch of other things. It’s simple to look at, but there’s a lot going on under the hood if you’re willing to dig into its robotic underbelly.

Drop Not! – Free

A game about rolling along a path. The only controls you have involve tapping the screen to change the direction you’re rolling in. And strangely enough it works really well. Throw in checkpoints and score multipliers and you’ve got yourself an entertaining little diversion.

Quantum Revenge

The best games on sale for iPhone and iPad right now – April 5th

Oh look it’s Wednesday. So that means it’s time to round up the best games that are on sale on the App Store right now. And looking down my list well, there are a couple of really good games going for cheap right now.

As ever you can click on the emboldened name of a game to download it. And there’s one game here that you absolutely should grab if you haven’t already, because it’s incredible. Ah, but which one?

This one…

Her Story – £2.99 / $ 2.99

A brilliant and entrancing story about a murder. But it’s much more than that. Told through video clips that you watch in a disjointed order, this is a tale that twists and turns as you delve deeper into it. It’s a game that’s tough to explain – you really need to play it though, that much I know for sure.

Mayhem – 99p / 99c

A super-quick, super-hard retro blaster that offers a massive challenge to anyone who dares jump into it. It’s not the deepest game out there, but it’s the sort of experience that, for just 99p, is almost impossible to turn down.

The AppSpy retrospective – The 3 best games of April 2016

We’re up to April in our retrospective series. Doesn’t time fly? But only in one direction. Like a bird condemned to forever fly around the world, never stopping, never experiencing a rest, just ever onwards into an endless dawn.

Anyway April was a pretty damn good month for mobile gaming, as you’ll probably be able to see from the three games that make it on to our best-of list. They’re fresh, they’re exciting, and there’s a good chance you’ve forgotten all about them in the past eight months.

So this list is going to set that straight. Top up your coffee, turn off any other electrical devices that might distract you, and let’s get right on with it.

Pang Adventures

A super hard reboot of a super hard original. Pang is built around a simple central premise – go and pop a load of bubbles. But these aren’t the sort of bubbles you or I might be used to in real life.

Because real life bubbles tend not to kill you if they touch you. There are some puzzling elements here, as well as a good deal of twitching as you try and avoid getting squished by evil alien bubbles.

Of all the retro-tinged games that came out this year, this is amongst the best of them. It understands what made Pang so good, and then wraps that understanding in super smooth graphics.

Warbits

A brilliant, mobile strategy game tha…
