The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week – May 26th

It’s the end of the week, and if, like me, you’re melting, you might be looking for a game to play in the fridge over the weekend to avoid the sun.

But what game should you get? What are the tippest toppest games that have hit the App Store this week? Oh I dunno, it’s probably the five I’m about to tell you about in this sexy hunk of gorgeous content.

As usual you can click on the emboldened name of a game to download it. And if you think we’ve missed anything, feel free to chuck your suggestions in the comments down there at the bottom of the article.

Jaipur

A fast-paced and engaging card game that’s all about trading. No! Wait! Come back, it’s actually really good. There’s very little drudgery here, just a smart game of throwing down cards and making as much money as you can.

Pokemon Magikarp Jump

Sure, it’s no Pokemon GO, but as games about leaping fish go it’s pretty darn solid. Silly in all the right ways, it doesn’t ask much of you, but you’ll find yourself engrossed in its comings and goings all the same.

Guns of Boom

A super slick super shooty super shooter. Honestly, this is one of the best multiplayer FPS games to have hit the App Store in recent memory. It’s super addictive. I do have some bad news for you though, Pocket Gamer editor Glen Fox is the best at it. Like seriously, no one can beat him.

The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week – May 12th

Another Friday has rolled in, bringing with it the salty taste of the weekend. It’s so close, it’s almost here. Just a little bit longer and then we’ll all be safe for two days. How good does that sound?

Well every Friday here at AppSpy we like to give you a rundown of the five best mobile games that have hit the App Store this week. So that’s exactly what we’re going to do right now. We’re traditionalists, sue us.

As per usual you can click on the emboldened name of a game below to download it from the App Store. And make sure you head back next week to pick up even more excellent mobile gaming related content. Or I’ll cry.

To the Moon

A tweaked port of a fantastic RPG. Its mechanics might be a bit on the traditional side, but it’s worth checking out for the story and the excellent music. Plus it’s exactly the sort of game we want to see more of on the App Store.

Artificial Superintelligence

A new implementation of the Tinder-style mechanic we first saw in Reigns. This one is an intriguing sci-fi adventure though. It looks lovely, and it’s interesting to see a new genre sort of coming to life before your very eyes.

The best games on sale for iPhone and iPad right now – May 10th

Wednesday has come stumbling along again, the slovenly dog. It’s tired and its eyes hurt and it can’t remember last weekend and it hasn’t made any plans for the coming one either. Sort it out Wednesday, you’re making the other days feel uncomfortable.

I’ll tell you what, I’ll give you a hand by creating an excellent piece of content to distract the people from your ineffable uselessness. How about I choose the five best games that are on sale right now on the App Store? And you go and splash some water on your face? Cool.

Kahuna – £1.99 / $ 1.99

A strategy game that’s all about old Polynesian gods. Use cards to build bridges, capture islands, and try and take control of the majority of the map. It’s tense, it’s slightly bonkers, and it’s more exciting than a lot of action games out there.

The Tuesday best of – Sonic The Hedgehog games for iPhone and iPad

Well, it looks like there’s another Sonic mobile game on the way. I think maybe there’s always another Sonic mobile game on the way. Because, y’know, Sonic.

Anyway, that made me think it was high time to rank the blue speedster’s mobile outings to date, and then present those findings in some sort of list form. Which is exactly what I’m going to do in a bit.

As always you can click on the emboldened name of the game to download it. And if you think we’ve missed anything out, stick your suggestions in the comments right down at the bottom of the article. Go on, you know you want to.

Sonic Dash – Free

It’s interesting that in the mobile gaming world, Sonic’s two main attributes have been cut up into two distinct experiences. The first of them is here in Sonic Dash. It’s a game about running forwards. A lot.

Essentially it’s an auto-runner starring the cast from Sonic’s adventures. And it’s actually a lot of fun. Slick and well put together, you’ll find an awful lot to like here if you’re not looking for anything with any depth.

The Tuesday best of – Point and click adventures for iPhone and iPad

It’s Tuesday. You probably noticed I wasn’t around on Friday and Monday. It’s not because I’m lazy, it’s because they were holidays in the UK. Fret not though, because I’m back, and I’ve got lovely content for you to ogle.

First up we’ve got our Tuesday best of. And since there’s a new Telltale game out, based on Guardians of the Galaxy, I thought it’d be fitting to look at some of the best point and click adventures on mobile.

As usual, you can click on the name of the game below to go and download them. And if you haven’t played any of them, I suggest you should do just that. Yup. Uh huh. Okay then.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

A super clever adventure about a dead detective. Solve crimes before they happen by poking and prodding the screen. And have a lovely old time doing it. Fresh and original, it’s gorgeous to look at as well.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered

It was hard to choose one classic remaster to add to this list. I’ve gone for this one though, because it doesn’t get as much love as it deserves. One from the heyday of…

The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week – May 5th

The week has come to an end. We are all ready to strip off our work skin, slide into our party skins, and rub against each other in a variety of different positions to try and forget that Monday is coming. That Monday is always coming.

But before that happens, let’s have a look at the five best games that came out on the App Store this week. After all, we can’t end the week without hurling even more excellent content into the void of the internet and hoping it sticks somewhere.

As usual you can click on the emboldened names of the games below to swipe them from iTunes. Right then, let’s get this content show on the content road to content town.

Race for the Galaxy

A digital version of a classic board game. This one’s all about taking over the galaxy. It’s slick, it’s smart, and there’s a whole bunch of clever ideas swirling about in it. Play with friends or take on the AI. It’s entirely up to you.

A Snake’s Tale

A game about a snake. A snake that can’t touch itself. But it’s not that game. It’s a clever puzzler with some neat twists that’s closer to a sliding block puzzler than anything else. It doesn’t shout at you if you get things wrong either.

The best games on sale for iPhone and iPad right now – May 3rd

It’s Wednesday. It’s come around quicker than usual because Monday was a bank holiday. At least it was in the UK. I don’t know where you’re from, so I’d feel bad if I said it was a bank holiday where you’re from and it wasn’t.

Gamebook Adventures 9 – 99p / 99c

So right now all of the Gamebook Adventures games are on sale for 99p. If you’ve not heard of them, they’re a series of choose your own adventure games built by Tin Man Games. And they’re definitely worth playing. There’s a lot of them, but for 99p a pop you’re getting an awful lot of fun for almost nothing.

The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week – April 28th

Friday is here. That means when you go to bed tonight, you don’t have to get up for work tomorrow. Unless, of course, you do have to get up for work tomorrow. In which case I’m sorry. Maybe lay off the lemon sherberts tonight, eh, otherwise you won’t sleep.

Binary Dash

A smart two-touch platformer that sees you leaping over things and switching the side of the level you’re running on. It’s not super fresh, but it is super challenging. Definitely worth giving a go if you like suffering.
