If this list has proven anything, I think it shows that mobile gaming has something to offer everyone. From incredible, mesmerising experiences, to small, more intimate stories. The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week – December 22nd

It’s the last week of the App Store being open in 2017. Some games have come out. Some of them are quite good. Some of them aren’t very good though. So we’ve gone right ahead and picked the five best so you’re not throwing money at something that’s going to leave you cold and disappointed. Like a bad coat.

You can click on the names of the games below to download them from the App Store. And feel free to lob your own suggestions into the comments section down there at the bottom of this slick chunk of late-year content.

Bridge Constructor Portal

A clever mash up of two different franchises that manages to take the best of them of them and combine them into something really interesting. It’s funny, it’s smart, and if you’re a fan of Portal of Bridge Constructor you’re almost certainly going to love it.

Sonic Runners Adventure

A pretty damn decent 2D Sonic game. It’s an auto-runner, a bit like Super Mario Run, but starring Sonic and all of his friends. It’s tough in places, and sometimes pretty frustrating, but it just about manages to get the feel of the classic Sonic games.

Dash Quest Heroes

An RPG and an auto…

But don’t worry about that, because we’ve gone right ahead and picked the five that you should be splashing your cash on. After all, you’ve probably spent a good deal of money this month on wonderful presents for me. I mean for your family.

You can click on the names of the games below to grab them from the App Store. And if you’ve got your own suggestions, lob them without fear of reprisal into the comments section down there at the bottom of the article.

Steredenn – £1.99 / $ 1.99

A space-based shooter that mixes in roguelike elements to create something pretty darn special. It looks incredible, and you’ll be slicing through waves of enemies with a mixed look of concentration and unbridled joy on your probably sweaty face.

The Room Three – £1.99 / $ 1.99

One of the best puzzle games on the App Store. In fact its just one of the best puzzle games period. It sees you using the touchscreen to manipulate things in a creepy Victorian setting. There’s so much to do, so much to…

The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week – December 15th

Oh what a week it has been. Games have been flying at us left right and centre. Some of them have been ace, some of them have been real good, and some of them have been amazing. It has been what we here at AppSpy like to call a bit of a crazy one.

So cutting everything down to just five games has been a bit of a chore. We got there in the end though. You can click on the names of the games below to download them from the App Store. And feel free to chuck your own suggestions into the comments at the bottom of the article. I’m pretty sure you’re going to have some.

Life is Strange

One of the best adventure games of the past couple of years finally makes it to mobile. It’s not what you might expect, but there’s an awful lot of intriguing story to get through here. And it plays just as well on your phone as it did on anything else.

Inside

A grim and heartless puzzling platformer from the dev behind Limbo. Make it through a dystopian future, pull the tail off a pig, and control people with your mind. Oh, and also get murdered in lots and lots of horrible ways.

The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week – December 8th

Friday has rolled around, which means that it’s time to round up the best games that came out this week on the App Store. Because, after all, that’s the sort of thing that we like to do on Friday. That and drinking mimosas on the beach. Mmmmmm beach.

It’s been a pretty good week on the App Store all told, as weeks in December usually are. Devs are rushing to get their games out before everyone gets a new iPhone for Christmas or something, I guess. I dunno, I’m not a dev. That’s why I’m writing this.

As usual you can click on the names of the games below to grab them from the App Store. And if you’ve seen anything you think should be included on the list, make sure you chuck them in the comments down there at the bottom of the content.

Reigns: Her Majesty

A game about making choices. You’re a queen, and your subjects petition you with questions, and your answers change the esteem they hold you in. You need to balance the different faction’s feelings, and figure out what’s going on underneath it all. Slick, smart, and an awful lot of fun to play.

Portal Knights

An ARPG set in a giant sandbox that sees you teaming up with other players to peg it around, smash things up, and fight giant bosses. It’s a little…

It’s the end of the week. That’s nice isn’t it? Unless you have to work at the weekend. Then I feel sorry for you. I’m sure you’ll make it through though, I believe in you, and your overwhelming power to succeed whatever the odds.

As it’s Friday we’re going to round up the best games of the week. Because that’s what we like to do on Friday. It’s been a pretty damn good week all told, with some big games and some small games and quite a lot of fun games. And we all love fun here at AppSpy. We love it so much.

You can click on the bold names of the games below to download them from the App Store. And if there’s anything you’ve spotted on your travels that you think your fellow App-Spiers should be playing, feel free to wham it in the comments at the bottom of the content.

GRID Autosport

A super-slick racing sim that’s premium. Pay once, get everything. It looks incredible, it controls even better, and there’s so much going on here that even for the price it’s well worth checking out. Oh, and most importantly it’s wonderfully exciting. The sort of racer thats going to crawl into your brain and stay there.

The AppSpy retrospective – The 3 best games of December 2016

And here we are. The final part of our look back at some of the best games that came out this year. December is usually a pretty quiet month, but that’s just not been the case in 2016. In fact it might have been the best month of the year.

As honourable mentions go we should probably point out the port of Rockstar’s Bully, the pretty brilliant Colt Express, and the really rather good Fieldrunners Attack! But the list we’ve ended up with is even better.

So for the last time, let’s dip into the archives with our rose tinted spectacles and misty eyes and have a look at the best iOS games that came out in December 2016.

Galaxy on Fire 3: Manticore

A massive space battler that sees the series finally understanding mobile gaming. It’s gorgeous, it’s surprisingly deep, and the simple controls let you swoosh through the emptiness of space with ease.

Throw in some allies who help you out on your missions, a massive chunk of the galaxy to explore, and more missions than you can throw an awful lot of mission sticks at, and you’re left with something special.

Also did I mention how good it looks? I mean seriously, I am in love with all of the explosions. This is the perfect jumping-on point for the GoF series.

Super Mario Run

Of course this was going to be on here. It’s pretty much the most important mobile…

The 5 best iPad and iPhone games this week – December 9th

Another week has been and gone. Did you get up to much good stuff? Or did you just sit around thinking to yourself, ah it’s nearly the end of the year, there’s not much point trying to start anything new now?

Guess which I did. Anyway, the end of a week means that it’s time for us to have a look at the best games that came out in that said week. And all in all it’s been a pretty impressive seven days for mobile gamings.

We’ve got some great ports, and some great new original mobile games of every sort. So maybe it it time to try something new. Maybe it’s time to try something new like one of the games on the list? Go on, treat yourself.

Galaxy on Fire 3: Manticore

A big swooshy swoopy space battling game. This is, as you might be able to tell, the third in the series, but it adds some new tweaks and twists that makes it feel like the first time GoF has really fit on mobile.

Big explosions, lovely graphics, and loads and loads and loads to do. Like, seriously, there’s a whole galaxy to explore and shoot to bits. So maybe go and do that, yeah?

Bully: Anniversary Edition

A welcome mobile outing for one of Rockstar’s slightly forgotten classics. It might not have the grit of a Red Dead or a GTA, but it’s funny, violent, and has a lot of neat tricks up its uniform’s sleeve.

And the port is excellent.…
