Ubisoft’s new social quiz game FaceUp – The Selfie Game released

Gaming is often at its best when it takesa simple premise, but executes it perfectly. Ubisoft’s new social quiz game FaceUp takes this very approach by looking to use your selfies in a gaming format.

The developers made this one with gamers in mind due to its charades-styled guess work. Online and offline, selfie takers can do battle with each other, as you attempt to guess the other person’s expression.

FaceUp tasks you with correctly identifying their friend’s mood or expression – with options ranging from politicians, boxers right up to fish and even spies.

If you wish to gloat about your razor sharp detection skills, the game provides support through social media avenues – ensuring you’ll be the talk of the town amongst your group of friends.

It’s harder than it sounds to guess correctly though, meaning the unlockable incentives like new stickers and extra modes are even more rewarding when you manage to get a face spot on.

While gaming is no stranger to merging itself with social media in recent years, few are as tightly stitched together as FaceUp – The Selfie Game. It embraces gaming just as closely as it embraces social media – as evidenced by the extra options such as the combo mode that tasks you with combining two facial expressions.

The women of King of Fighters get involved in Game of Dice’s brand new update

Following up on their recent King of Fighters update, JoyCity has brought two more surprise additions from the Japanese arcade fighter to the world of Game of Dice, the anime board game where it isn’t fists that are thrown, but dice.

For those of you who haven’t yet played it, Game of Dice is a fun filled multi player and single player board game style app with a pretty straightforward premise – roll the dice, buy up the board and send your opponents to the poor house. If it sounds a little bit like Monopoly, you wouldn’t be far wrong.

But this is no game of chance; you’ll need to use strategy to win – playing with a deck stacked with skills, items and characters.

After receiving two new character additions in the form of Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami from The King of Fighters franchise earlier in the month, JoyCity have brought out a new limited addition deck that also introduces two of the most popular women in the franchise – Mai Shiranui and Athena Asamiya. What’s more, whenever these two dangerous ladies get drawn from your deck, you’ll receive1 million gold.

On top of that, after purchasing the pack you could be just one of 5 lucky people to win a KOF XIV voucher code for the PS4 courtesy of a special event being held by JoyCity. A further 20…

EVERY Telltale game, ranked

Good news everyone! Batman – The Telltale Series is finally out on iOS! Our sister site Pocket Gamer has got a lovely review of the first episode up right now, but what of Telltale’s other mobile efforts?

The Californian developer has, well, developed a knack and reputation for making episodic, story driven ‘interactive experiences’.

But which of them are hot, and which are not? The Walking Dead, or dead man walking? Minecraft: Story Mode, or Minecraft: Story NOPE? Game of Thrones or Game of NO?

I’ll stop now. Here are the seven Telltale games on the App Store, listed from worst to best (not including the old ones like Jurassic Park and Sam & Max, because, like, they’re well rubbish mate).

7. Batman – The Telltale Series

Batman - The Telltale Series

That’s right, it seems Telltale’s latest work is also their weakest. Their attempt at the Batman universe focuses too much on the Dark Knight – a character who, while interesting in his own right, doesn’t suit Telltale’s storytelling. The series does still have potential, but we need less Bat, more Bruce.

6. The Walking Dead: Season Two

Bargain iOS game deal of the day: Little Galaxy goes free

Little Galaxy is currently available for free on iOS. If you haven’t played this addictive arcade gem yet, now is the perfect time to make the jump.

The iOS App Store is brimming over with high quality games, with prices that often fluctuate wildly. It can be hard to grab all of the bargain offers that come your way, which is why we’ll step in from time to time to highlight the deals that might not get the exposure they deserve.

Take Little Galaxy (currently going by the name Little Galaxy Family), for example. It’s been out for three years, which is an absolute age in the world of iOS games. Yet it remains an extremely fresh and attractive casual arcade game.

One giant leap for boykind

To celebrate three years of availability on the App Store, developer Bitmap Galaxy has made its slick space-arcade game available to download for free – but only for the next three days. It’s normally £1.59.

The idea is to tap to make your little space man hop from planetoid to planetoid, timing your leaps as he rotates into position. Not only do you need to make contact with the next planetoid so that you don’t go spinning off into space, but super-precise timing will enable you to snag the various trinkets that line certain interplanetary paths.

Occasionally this will require making use of some funky interstellar physics, utilising a nearby black hole to bend your flight towards the…

Tinder, Disasterpeace, and epic binary choices – Why Reigns should be your next iOS game

What do infamous hook-up app Tinder, indie gaming great Fez, and classic choose-your-own-adventure games have in common? They’re all reference points that have been named in conjunction with an intriguing new iOS game called Reigns.

Developer Nerial has produced something special in Reigns – a genuinely fresh mobile adventure game that wouldn’t feel as good on any other format. Here’s why we think you should be playing it.

Tindering your assignation

At the heart of Reigns (download here) is a simple binary decisions system. As the young ruler of a medieval fantasy kingdom, you’re fed a succession of decisions, each one generally corresponding to a year of your reign, with two possible choices.

These can range between a simple yes/no on whether to deciding whether to adopt an offensive or defensive stance in a duel. This swipe-based card system has led to comparisons with hook-up app Tinder. As improbable as that might sound, it’s a sensible UI choice that gives Reigns an easy-going flow, placing all emphasis on the decision-making process it itself.

Regardless of the choice you make, it will have an effect on four core areas of your kingdom – the church, the people, the army, and your wealth. If any one element becomes too strong or too weak, it will mean the end of you…
