In part five of our round up of the best games that came out on the App Store this year, we’re going to look at May. I mean, it’s the fifth month of the year, it’d be pretty insane to look at anything else really.
Missed the other bits of our retrospective? Well you’re going to have to have a look at the links below then, they’re going to sort you right out. Tomorrow? Well tomorrow we’re going to have a look at June aren’t we. Have you not been paying attention?
We’re up to April in our round up of the best games that came out on the App Store this year. That’s a pretty exciting fact. I mean, it’s not really, but I’m just trying to fill up space. I’m pretty tired if I’m being honest.
If you’ve not seen other articles in the series, you can click on the links below to check them out. And be sure to come back tomorrow to find out what the best games of May 2017 were. You don’t want to miss out and not be able to join in the conversation with your buddies, right?
A super hardcore shooter that sees you legging it through a bunch of aliens that are trying to murder you. It takes a while to get used to, and some people are going to be decidedly put off by the difficul…
Today we’re up to February in our round up of the best games that landed on iOS this year. February was a pretty good month, if you’re into shooting, thinking, and murdering teenagers. And quite frankly who isn’t into all of those things?
Come back tomorrow to find out the best games that came out in March. And if you weren’t around yesterday, there’s a link below that’s going to take you to the best games of January. You’re welcome.
A gorgeous looking shooter that plays around with the bones of the genre and comes up with something pretty special. It’s set in a dying computer system, and you’re in there to try and sort everything out. Trust us though, it’s far more difficult than just a quick defrag.
A game that’s all about murdering people. But, you know, in a fun, kitschy sort of a way. Each level is like a scene from an 80’s horror movie. You’re playing the killer, and you need to figure out how to butcher the kids and cops…
It’s the last week of the App Store being open in 2017. Some games have come out. Some of them are quite good. Some of them aren’t very good though. So we’ve gone right ahead and picked the five best so you’re not throwing money at something that’s going to leave you cold and disappointed. Like a bad coat.
You can click on the names of the games below to download them from the App Store. And feel free to lob your own suggestions into the comments section down there at the bottom of this slick chunk of late-year content.
A clever mash up of two different franchises that manages to take the best of them of them and combine them into something really interesting. It’s funny, it’s smart, and if you’re a fan of Portal of Bridge Constructor you’re almost certainly going to love it.
A pretty damn decent 2D Sonic game. It’s an auto-runner, a bit like Super Mario Run, but starring Sonic and all of his friends. It’s tough in places, and sometimes pretty frustrating, but it just about manages to get the feel of the classic Sonic games.
It’s the Monday before Christmas, which means you’ve still got a bit of time to go out and get the mobile gamer in your life some presents. Or order them off the internet. I don’t know, there aren’t any mobile gamers in my life to be honest.
Anyway, we thought it was as good a time as any to put together a guide to let you know some of the cool stuff out there that a mobile gamer might just appreciate. I mean, they might not, but don’t hold it against us. There’s a chance they’re just the sort of person who doesn’t appreciate getting gifts.
You can click on the names of the items below to get them from Amazon. Apart from the iTunes gift card, which you can’t buy from Amazon. If you’ve got your own suggestions for what people might want to find in their stockings a week today, feel free to chuck them in the comments at the bottom of the article.
Yeah it’s not the most imaginative present, but you’ve googled what to buy a mobile gamer for Christmas, so it’s not really my fault. You can grab gift cards in all manner of currencies and amounts, and it means you don’t actually have to think about what the person receiving the gift likes. And since there have been plenty of amazing games that came out on the App Store this year, they’re going to have a lot to spend their imaginary money on.
We’re getting towards the end of the year, and that means that there are a whole bunch of games on sale right now for iPhone and iPad. And you know what? Some of them are really, really good. In fact, there might be too many to choose from.
But don’t worry about that, because we’ve gone right ahead and picked the five that you should be splashing your cash on. After all, you’ve probably spent a good deal of money this month on wonderful presents for me. I mean for your family.
You can click on the names of the games below to grab them from the App Store. And if you’ve got your own suggestions, lob them without fear of reprisal into the comments section down there at the bottom of the article.
A space-based shooter that mixes in roguelike elements to create something pretty darn special. It looks incredible, and you’ll be slicing through waves of enemies with a mixed look of concentration and unbridled joy on your probably sweaty face.
One of the best puzzle games on the App Store. In fact its just one of the best puzzle games period. It sees you using the touchscreen to manipulate things in a creepy Victorian setting. There’s so much to do, so much to…
Oh what a week it has been. Games have been flying at us left right and centre. Some of them have been ace, some of them have been real good, and some of them have been amazing. It has been what we here at AppSpy like to call a bit of a crazy one.
So cutting everything down to just five games has been a bit of a chore. We got there in the end though. You can click on the names of the games below to download them from the App Store. And feel free to chuck your own suggestions into the comments at the bottom of the article. I’m pretty sure you’re going to have some.
One of the best adventure games of the past couple of years finally makes it to mobile. It’s not what you might expect, but there’s an awful lot of intriguing story to get through here. And it plays just as well on your phone as it did on anything else.
A grim and heartless puzzling platformer from the dev behind Limbo. Make it through a dystopian future, pull the tail off a pig, and control people with your mind. Oh, and also get murdered in lots and lots of horrible ways.
Friday has rolled around, which means that it’s time to round up the best games that came out this week on the App Store. Because, after all, that’s the sort of thing that we like to do on Friday. That and drinking mimosas on the beach. Mmmmmm beach.
It’s been a pretty good week on the App Store all told, as weeks in December usually are. Devs are rushing to get their games out before everyone gets a new iPhone for Christmas or something, I guess. I dunno, I’m not a dev. That’s why I’m writing this.
As usual you can click on the names of the games below to grab them from the App Store. And if you’ve seen anything you think should be included on the list, make sure you chuck them in the comments down there at the bottom of the content.
A game about making choices. You’re a queen, and your subjects petition you with questions, and your answers change the esteem they hold you in. You need to balance the different faction’s feelings, and figure out what’s going on underneath it all. Slick, smart, and an awful lot of fun to play.
It’s Thursday again. I hope you’re all well rested and invigorated for the mad dash to the weekend. You’ve probably got Christmas shopping to do on Saturday. I’m sorry that you have friends and loved ones you have to buy things for, it must be very difficult for you.
If you’re thinking about buying them a game for their mobile, well then you’re a bit weird. But we’ve gone right ahead and picked the best one that’s come out this week to shower with attention. And hopefully you’re going to shower it with attention as well.
You can click the header below to download the game from the App Store. And if you’d like to share your thoughts, feel free to do so in the comments section all the way down there at the bottom of the content.
Put simply, if you loved the original Reigns you’re going to love this one even more. The writing is sharper, the ideas are more interesting, and there’s a fizz and a bubble to proceedings that makes you want to push deeper into the experience.
You’re still swiping cards left and right to make decisions, but this time around you’re a queen. Well, you’re THE queen. Not that one, the one in the game. You need to balance the esteem that four factions hold you in. Go to far either way and you’ll die. Die, and you’ll be reincarnated as the next queen and start a new era of rule.
So far the main thrust of the mobile eSports genre has focused mainly on games like Clash Royale, MOBAs to give them another name. But there’s money in RTS games and shooters on other devices, and that got me thinking.
What games out there on mobile right now are likely to transfer well to the eSports arena. Basically this is a primer to make sure you’re playing the games that are going to end up making you the big bucks in the future. And all I’m asking is that you give me a cool ten percent. Or just share and comment on the article. That’ll work as well.
A team-based shooter that borrows a lot from the likes of Team Fortress 2. It’s bright and garish, but it also does some really cool things. It’s one of the first shooters that just clicks on mobile. The controls are brilliant, the blasting is fun, and there’s plenty here that spectators are going to get a kick out of.
